14 Mar The Golden Stallion
n preparation for my fine art study of Pearl of Peace, a rare golden coated Andalusian stallion, I spent an afternoon filming him in all his glory being ridden and handled by Amador Alonso Rioperez in the autumn Spanish sun.
It was a unique experience to study a horse in such a way, almost like a painter may take preliminary sketches to better understand their subject.
That night in my hotel room I studied over two hours of footage to fully understand the majesty of this unique horse. It was fascinating to see how the sun light affected his beautiful golden coat and it really prepared me for the shoot days ahead. It also totally changed my opinion of which lighting modifiers would work and which would not and that really surprised me. I’ve been shooting with flash lighting for 27 years now and yet still refining and honing my craft.
