Horses & Flash
Six months of testing lead us to launch this style
When Matthew first had the idea to shoot with flash in this style his first concern was the horse's safety and well being. The concerns were that it would either be uncomfortable for the horse or dangerous if the horse was spooked. So, the tests began. We photographed lots of horses with all kinds of different temperaments, from a friendly cob to a hot blooded thoroughbred race horse. The results surprised us all. Due to the desensitization technique used the horses accepted the flash light very quickly and after a while some even became very inquisitive of the flash head !
Of course you may have specific concerns about your own horse and Matthew will always discuss his approach with you before attempting to shoot in the dramatic style.
