EQUINE ART AUCTION

To celebrate the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Horse in 2014, I approached China’s only Olympic Event Rider, Alex Hua Tian, to see if he would be up for doing some fine art equine photography with his horses. Alex is based in the UK and he was delighted to be approached for this project.

Unbeknown to me, Alex Hua Tian was about to be announced as a Patron of World Horse Welfare, a charity very close to my heart. So, when I was invited to a special World Horse Welfare event in London to celebrate the Year of the Horse I suggested to Alex that we auction one of the images to raise funds for the charity, and, of course, he said yes!

The charity event took place at the prestigious Jack Barkley Bentley Garage in Berkeley Square London in January 2014 and was sponsored by No 1 Savile Row London tailors, Gieves & Hawkes. Alex had also been appointed as a new brand ambassador for Gieves & Hawkes and they kindly sponsored this charity event.

So, a portrait of Alex Hua Tian and his coloured horse, Tonto, flying the Chinese flag was auctioned in aid of World Horse Welfare and the winning bidders asked both Alex and I to sign the framed portrait at the event! This event raised over £10,000 for World Horse Welfare.
